Experimental evaluation of an implant mounting within a bone tissue at the interface between the implant surface and the bone tissue in cement-amalgam fastening

The aim of the work was to determine quality of an implant mounting within a bone and its strength, as well as to find out, which factors, occurring in the implant-bone system, influence the condition of the contact of an implant mounted within a living tissue the most. The quality of an implant mounting within a bone was experimentally determined by testing 18 samples that had been prepared beforehand.. The experiment consisted in loading the prepared samples with pressures whose character imitated loading of a human limb during a fast gait [3]. Mounting of a fragment of a steel endoprosthesis mandrel within a fragment of the top of the closer thigh bone was realized with the same precision and the same fit in the case of all the tested samples, using a mounting method identical with a technique of mounting an endoprosthesis during its surgical implantation [1,3]. The prepared samples imitated mounting of the endoprosthesis mandrel within the bone tissue. The quality of the fastening was determined by recording values of displacements of the mandrel mounted within the bone tissue for an applied load, i.e. a force occurring within the studied joint during a gait process[1,2,3]. The measurements consisted in recording a displacement of the mandrel mounted within the bone with respect to the bone tissue in direction the load acts. The way the tests were performed is schematically shown in Fig. 1.
